Following the Medical Council of Ireland requirement to develop reflection in medical students, University College Dublin School of Medicine & Medical Science (Psychiatry), UCD Teaching & Learning and Media Services (UCD IT Services) developed this elearning unit, which helps medical students to think and write reflectively. It makes use of video from a recorded lecture. The elearning is interactive with a variety of question types - especially open questions to encourage the students to think. In UCD, it is used in conjunction with a discussion forum where a psychiatric topic is discussed at three levels of reflection and a reflective essay where students apply their reflective writing skills.
