This is an outline of an earthquakes unit using Seismic/Eruption (called SeisVolE on this webpage). Parts of the unit involve graphing using Excel, and all lessons use the Siesmic/Eruption program (which is available for free download). These lessons cover: making a map using Seismic/Eruption, adding relief to the map, taking a cross-section of the map, importing earthquake data from the USGS PDE catalog, creating Frequency-Magnitude plots, and instructions for making graphs using Excel(histograms, scatter plots, and bar graphs).
